Thing 8 - Google Calendar

Had a look at Google Calendar.  I like the easy colour coding, but I'm already using Outlook Calendar - not to it's fullest I admit - but using it.  Outlook calendar does have colour coding too, but it seems to work differently and doesn't have so many colours to choose from.  If you want to print, colour coding only works if you have a colour printer.
Might suggest using either calendar system for our staff rostering.

Thing 7 - organisations

As you can see I'm making an effort to catch up - at the expense of day-to-day tasks.
When I first qualified, over 30 years ago, I tried to join the LAI but any attempts seemed to be ignored - so I ignored them!
Eventually, a few years ago, I became acquainted with some of their Groups and finally joined.  I find the groups to which I belong interesting and useful.  I've attended some CILIP-organised courses an found them excellent.

Thing 6

While they might have their uses for some I've decided the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Linked-in are not for me.  Maybe it's a generational thing!

Thing 5

Reflective practice sounds great in theory - but where does one get the time other than thinking on the hoof!

The RSS feeds worked - sort of.

Thing 4

I'm just about caught up, but how long will I stay that way?

I do like to keep in touch with people - I send over 120 Christmas cards every year, including about 30 personal letters and I text and use group webmail to organise get togethers etc - but I cannot bring myself to sign up for Twitter!  Maybe it's a generational thing.  I prefer real friends to virtual friends.

I think I've signed up for an RSS feed to CPD23.  I'll let you know if it worked.

Thing 3

It's pretty hectic at work so I'm still trying to catch up with activities suggested.  I would have thought my name was fairly unusual but there were hunderds of entries. On Google the very first entry shown related to my institution's organisation chart and others much further down the line also were work related.  It was p. 5 of the results on Yahoo and p.6 on MSN before any relevant results appeared.  I would not have expected anything other than work related items as I have kept away from Facebook etc so far.
As for image - for now I'd rather remain as anonymous as possible.

Thing 2

I had some trouble getting set up as my verification message got caught in our system's spamtrap so I'm still only on Thing 2.  I've had a look at some bloggs but there's too much choice so haven't followed or commented on anything. Where's the option to send a comment?  I've even attracted two followers!

I do have another blog, set up under a different identity about two years ago, and aimed at publicising a monthly event.  In all that time it's brought nobody to the event and only one person ever mentioned having seen it and he lives too far away to come!  Another contribution to my scepticism!

My main interest in participating is in gaining technical skills.
